Connect Linear to Rulebase to see the Linear issues your team references while working a ticket. When an agent pastes a Linear link or types an issue identifier such as INC-1221 into a conversation or note, Rulebase looks the issue up and adds it to the conversation’s linked activity. Issue status updates flow back from Linear, so the linked activity shows where the issue stands without leaving Rulebase.

Prerequisites

  • You must be a Linear workspace admin, or otherwise allowed to authorize applications for your workspace.
  • You must have the Administrator role in Rulebase.

Installation

Step 1: connect Linear

  1. Log in to your Rulebase dashboard
  2. Go to Settings > Connections
  3. Find Linear in the list and click Add connection
  4. Choose the Linear workspace in the popup
  5. Review the requested permissions and click Authorize
Rulebase installs as an application in your workspace and asks for these permissions:

What gets synced

  • Linked issues. Rulebase scans conversation messages and internal notes for Linear issue URLs (https://linear.app/your-workspace/issue/INC-1221) and bare identifiers that match one of your workspace’s team keys. Matching issues appear under the conversation’s linked activity with their title, identifier, and current state.
  • Status updates. Linear notifies Rulebase when a linked issue changes, so the state shown in Rulebase stays current.
  • Rulebase in Linear. Because Rulebase is installed as an application, your team can mention or assign Rulebase on a Linear issue to ask about related conversations.

Next steps

  • Open a conversation that references a Linear issue and confirm the issue appears in its linked activity.
  • Review how to manage integrations if a connection stops updating and needs reconnecting.
